Used Volkswagen Tiguan cars for sale

109 results

As Volkswagen’s mid-size SUV, the VW Tiguan has been in production since 2008 and is renowned for its smooth suspension, smart tech features and comfortable driving experience. However, it is on the more expensive end of the scale, making a used VW Tiguan car an appealing choice.

Versions of the VW Tiguan

The second generation of the Volkswagen Tiguan launched in 2016, though the first generation did receive a mid-life facelift in 2011.

As with all used purchases, the newer the car that you choose, the better. The current VW Tiguan is arguably the most attractive mid-size SUV available on the market, with the levels of kit being impressive across the range.

The entry-level S specification is available on both first and second-generation VW Tiguan’s and features essentials such as an infotainment system, air-con and alloy wheels. For the first-generation VW Tiguan alone, there are SE, SEL and R-Line specs, whilst for the second-generation car, there’s the Match, SEL and R-Line Tech.

The R-Line specifications boast sporty styling and a firmer ride, whilst the SE and SEL have been designed with comfort as a priority.

The VW Tiguan also comes in several different colour models, including black, Urano Grey and Pacific Blue.

Engines, fuel types and gearbox

As you’d probably expect, the diesels in the Volkswagen Tiguan range offer excellent fuel economy over long distances, but this doesn’t mean that TSI petrol engines should be discounted. Not only are they energetic and responsive but they also have an impressive power output, despite the widespread move towards smaller capacities.

The 1.5-litre TSI in the most recent generation car, for example, is available with either 130PS or 150PS for maximum performance and efficiency.

The VW Tiguan is currently available as a diesel or petrol car, with electric and hybrid concepts in the pipeline. Choose from the likes of the second-hand 1.5 TSI, 2.0 TSI or 2.0 TDI.

Whether you’re looking for an automatic or manual used VW Tiguan, we have a wide range of options for you to choose from.

VW Tiguan FAQs

I have a large family – how many people can the VW Tiguan seat?

The standard Volkswagen Tiguan can seat up to five people. If you’re looking for a 7-seater VW Tiguan, then the VW Tiguan Allspace boasts a longer wheelbase, creating space for two additional seats in the boot and increasing the full boot capacity from 1,655 litres to 1,775 litres.

The VW Golf is renowned for offering great value for money, an exceptional level of comfort and cheaper running costs.  The Tiguan takes that high level of comfort, and adds an elevated driving position and a huge amount of interior space, though running costs will be slightly higher than a Golf.

If you’re seeking an economical drive over the advantages of an SUV, then the VW Golf is a more suitable option. If you’re looking for more space and SUV practicality, then a used VW Tiguan could be the right choice for you.

How big is the VW Tiguan boot space?

Whilst the standard Volkswagen Tiguan offers 615 litres worth of boot space, the VW Tiguan Allspace is slightly larger with 700 litres worth of cargo capacity. With the rear seats lowered, the VW Tiguan boot holds up to 1,655 litres, whilst the VW Tiguan Allspace goes up to 1,775 litres of capacity.

What is the VW Tiguan’s towing capacity?

The Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace can tow between 1,800 to 2,500kg, whilst the standard VW Tiguan can tow between 1,600 to 2,500kg. This is enough to tow a small vehicle or non-motorised boat.

Are VW Tiguans 4-wheel drive?

Yes – depending on the VW Tiguan model that you choose. 4MOTION – Volkswagen’s branded term for four-wheel drive – is optional for the VW S, SE and Sport.

Off-road drive mode gives you advanced control on rougher terrains, whilst the hill descent assist mode allows you to safely drive down slopes by actively braking all four wheels.

Is the VW Tiguan available on Motability?

Our hassle-free Motability scheme is designed to offer eligible applicants a brand-new car on a monthly Mobility allowance. Motability isn’t offered on used Volkswagen Tiguans, but we’d be more than happy to talk to you about the new VW Tiguan, which is available through the scheme.
