Used hybrid cars: FAQs

The downside to a hybrid is their battery life. Nearly all hybrid cars use batteries that are integrated into the powertrain. That’s good news when you’re on the road, as it results in better fuel mileage.

Eventually, though, the batteries can no longer hold a charge. Like the batteries in your TV remote, they’ll eventually go flat, and they’ll need to be replaced.

Leading car manufacturers typically state that hybrid batteries last between 80,000 to 100,000 miles.

But with regular maintenance and servicing, some hybrid car owners claim their batteries have lasted up to 200,000 miles!

At around 30,000 to 40,000 miles, you should still get plenty of life out of the battery pack.

At around 100,000 miles, a hybrid car would start needing more maintenance and replacement of certain components.

The maintenance needs of a hybrid car differ very little from those of a traditional engine. Much like a petrol or diesel engine, hybrid vehicles require regular servicing in line with manufacturer guidelines. You will be able to select from an interim, full or major hybrid service as part of your maintenance.

Simply get in touch with our expert servicing team who will be able to book you in for your service.

This means that running a hybrid car is often no more expensive to maintain than any other vehicle.
