How To Choose The Right Mercedes-Benz

From body style to your lifestyle, how do you know which Mercedes-Benz is the right one for you? Our latest guide helps break down the deciding factors for your next Mercedes-Benz purchase.

How To Choose The Right Mercedes-Benz

Taking your first step into the world of Mercedes-Benz? Not only are you choosing style, performance, and comfort from your vehicle, but you’ll be joining a vibrant and loyal community of car enthusiasts too!

Whilst switching to Mercedes-Benz for your next new or used car might be an easy decision, with an ever-expanding range of models, choosing the right one might be the tricky part.

To help, we have pulled together our list of 6 things to consider when choosing the right Mercedes-Benz for you.

1) Getting to grips with the different classes

The first part is getting used to the different classes, from your A-Class to your C-Class, understanding the lingo can feel confusing.

Luckily, we’ve pulled together a blog post that helps break it down

2) Body Style

To choose the right Mercedes-Benz, you need to know which body style you’re looking for.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Hatchback

A hatchback is a 4-door car with a boot door that swings open to provide access to the main interior (rather than a separate boot space). If you haven’t given this much thought before, having a boot that opens this way often help provide more storage opportunities, so are a perfect choice for growing families or transporting bulkier items.

Saloon

In contrast to a hatchback, a saloon’s boot is completely separate from the passenger compartment. The body style of a saloon lends itself to a longer, more elegant frame and often roomier boot space that provides storage solutions that don’t interfere with passenger space. Saloons are often popular with businesspeople and executives.

SUV

An SUV, or Sport Utility Vehicle, is a type of automobile that combines elements of road-going passenger cars with features from off-road vehicles. Like a 4x4 these vehicles sit higher on the road, command more space and are roomier inside too. Another great option for families or those wanting that all-important legroom.

Mercedes-Benz SUV: G-Class, EQE, GLS, GLE Coupé, GLE, GLC Coupé

Coupé

A coupé is a two-door passenger car with a sloped roof, often associated with slightly sportier models. If you’re looking for the feel of a sports car but with all the comfort of a saloon, Mercedes-Benz range of coupés could be the perfect choice for you.

Estate

Long, lean, and practical, estate vehicles are known for their elongated body type. Often extremely spacious, generous boot size, they’re a great option for families (or for house-moves!)

Mercedes-Benz estate: C-Class Estate, E-Class Estate.

Cabriolet

Cabriolet, or convertible, depending on where you’re from, is a vehicle with a retractable roof, either soft-top or hard top. Whilst convertibles might not be labelled as the ‘practical’ choice, they certainly score points when it comes to fun and style factors.

3) Price bracket

Next on the list is to get a feel for how much you’re looking to spend. New Mercedes-Benz vehicles start from £30,720 and can reach up to £205,000.

With so many models and trims to explore you’re able to build a bespoke package that is right for you.

4) Ready to go electric?

There’s no denying that, like all manufacturers, Mercedes-Benz are on an electric-vehicle drive. In fact, their commitment to re-engineering, redesigning and re-imagining their vehicles so they’re fit for the 2035 petrol and diesel cut-off is impressive. The launch of new electric models in their EQ range since 2020 has ramped up considerably, with new models on the horizon too.

5) Your lifestyle

Depending on where you are in your life, it’s important to consider what’s important for you when buying your new Mercedes-Benz and what you’ll be using it for.

Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

  • Is your car mainly for commuting to work?
  • Will you be driving long distances regularly or running around town?
  • Do you have a family (or one perhaps one on the horizon)?
  • Are you looking for a bit of fun with no big lifestyle commitments in the pipeline?
  • Is legroom important?
  • Do you regularly use the boot and need the extra space?

6) Trim

Whilst all Mercedes-Benz vehicles come with prestige, style, and a sense of luxury, personalising your vehicle or choosing a higher spec can provide extra levels of comfort or performance.

Here is a snapshot of the different trim types that could be available when you’ve chosen the right body style for you.
