Cutting-edge technology with iconic Porsche performance, the 2024 Porsche Taycan is an exciting arrival this year, but whilst the exterior is sleek and aerodynamic, what’s it like on the inside?
There are many things to love about the Porsche Taycan, but the interior is really something special. We found it hard to choose just five favourite features from this powerhouse of a car but read ahead as we reveal the five things we can’t stop thinking about...
Whilst it might sound otherworldly in name, the instrument cluster is typically a collection of gauges and dials which gives the driver an understanding of the car’s performance or status. Yet the Porsche Taycan takes this to the next level, with a free-standing 16.8-inch curved digital display for a sleek, modern, yet inobtrusive screen.
Drivers can choose from six different display modes.
- The 3D driving assistance view which shows a 3D model of the surrounding area with the route and up to three lanes and a maximum of six other road users.
- A configurable battery display was also added to the left-hand display. This provides information about the current state of charge, the battery temperature, and the current charging power and target SoC during the charging process.
The instrument cluster is not like any other information station, but the digital display can be perfectly tailored to a driver’s preferences, accessible by the steering wheel.
Steering wheels take up a huge component in the interior of a vehicle, so a good-looking steering wheel can have a huge impact on the driver’s experience. Which is why the customisable steering wheel is one of our favourite features in the Porsche Taycan.
There are two options to choose from:
- Multifunction sports steering wheel in leather – this can be customised to suit your tastes from one of the colour options available in the Accent package.
- GT Race-Tex multifunction sports steering wheel - a unique design with visible screw heads alongside the Porsche drive mode switch.
Through the dashboard which spans the width of the vehicle, a screen also accessible on the passenger side, shows enhanced access to the car’s digital display and comfort settings.
A very on-trend feature is the car’s dynamic or ‘ambient’ lighting which illuminates key aspects of the vehicle, so if purple lighting is your vibe, selecting the ‘dynamic’ option gives the driving experience a whole new feel.
When it comes to the interior’s materials, you have a range of options to choose from to make this vehicle tailored to your taste.
For the two-tone leather upholstery, Porsche has changed the colours and the way they are used in favour of a more modern appearance. The new colour combinations are Bramble/Chalk and Black/Chalk Beige.
Two new leather-free interior options in Black and Black/Slate Grey complete the selection. These equipment packages replace the genuine leather in the interior and instead feature the high-quality microfibre material, Race-Tex, as well as a textile material with wool content displaying the iconic Pepita houndstooth pattern.
Whichever you choose, the end result is premium, the luxurious surroundings make being inside the vehicle feel like a home from home.
Like any new model, updated features and interfaces have played a big part in the latest model of the Porsche Taycan with better connectivity for both driver and passenger. The integration of Apple CarPlay has meant that it’s possible to control vehicle functions such as changing radio stations, adjusting the air conditioning or setting ambient lighting.
The new In-Car Video function means that you can even have video streaming on the central display and the Passenger Display. But don’t worry - a special film is applied to make sure that this can't be seen from the driver’s seat.
