The Kia XCeed is the latest addition to the Ceed family line-up, and promises SUV practicality with the feel and size of a hatchback.
Defined as a crossover utility vehicle – or CUV – the XCeed packs a sporty exterior design and power from a range of turbocharged engines, as well as room for five and an elevated seating position for the driver.
Inside, the XCeed is pure Kia, with up-to-the-minute technology such as an infotainment system with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as advanced occupant safety features.
As much as 43mm taller than its Ceed sibling, the XCeed also adds muscular protective cladding to the wheel arches and front valance, giving it that classic SUV look while still being a vehicle that retains the driveability and agility of a smaller hatchback.
Available engines range from a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder T-GDi petrol unit to the same high-power 1.6-litre petrol that’s found in the Ceed GT. A 1.6-litre diesel unit is also available in two states of tune, and a plug-in hybrid variant will be added to the XCeed line-up over the coming months.
All but the 1.0-litre T-GDi engine can be had with a choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and stop-start technology is also standard across the range.
Boot space clocks in at 31 litres more than the standard Ceed – now 426 litres – and with 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats available, as much as 1,378 litres of loadspace are available if you need them.
What’s more, all this is backed by Kia’s legendary 7-year/100,000-mile warranty, so you can be confident the XCeed will give you years of trouble-free motoring.
